Spring Bash Update
What better way to celebrate a great season of boating, than to have a party? So mark the evening of Saturday, March 20 off on your calendar and reserve your spot today .
The Double R / PBCE bash is here again and promises to be better than ever. Double R and Performance Boat Club Events would like to say "thank you" for another great season and welcome you to the new one.
The party will be hosted at Double R and will go from early evening until the wee hours. There will be plenty of food, drink and entertainment this year as always.
Itinerary for the evening
6 pm - General Club Meeting, review of last years events and fundraisng goals.
Introduction of the PBCE board members.
Discussions on 2010 event schedule
Q&A for areas of improvement, comments and feedback.
7 pm - Dinner will be served. Bubba will be grillin steak, chicken and sausages on a bun,
fresh salads, fruits and assorted deserts.
10 pm - Double R / Beirstik Tricycle Grand Prix. Closed course indoor event. Need we say more?

Mercury Racing Launches All New 1300hp Engine Package: Double R to Stock Them.

Mercury Racing unveiled their new 1300 and 1350hp turbo engines along with their new M8 drive at the Miami Boat Show last month. Double R Performance will be stocking these engines upon their release this fall. Please see attached Specifications:

STATEMENT MARINE SIGNS DOUBLE R PERFORMANCE AS DEALER
St. Petersburg, FL – Just in time to make a “STATEMENT!” for the Miami International Boat Show, STATEMENT! Marine has signed Double R Performance as the dealer for its 42-foot Vee and 50-foot catamaran hulls.
“We welcome Peter and Raymond Roberts and Double R Performance to the STATEMENT! Marine family and look forward to a long-term relationship with this first-class organization,” said Vice President of Global Sales, Chip Fendt. “When you build the ‘Bugatti Veyron of the Water,’ the customer expects a certain level of service, and Double R Performance can exceed that expectation,” he added.
“We’re used to offering our customers the top-of-the-line in boats and service,” said Peter Roberts of Double R Performance. “The addition of STATEMENT! Marine gives us something new to offer our customers that we can have extreme confidence in.”
Founded in 1999 in Hawkestone, Ontario, Canada , Double R Performance has a 20,000 square foot service and sales facility specializing in servicing the Nor-tech and Mercury Racing products they sell. Double R will use the addition of STATEMENT! Marine to expand its operations into the United States , according to Roberts, “In the midst of a recession, Double R Performance experienced record sales years in 2008 and 2009,” he said. “STATEMENT! Marine will give us a new, innovative, quality boat to offer our customers as we open our new location in Port Orange, Florida .”
After introducing their Kevlar, E-glass and foam composite construction hulls at the 2009 Miami Boat Show, Team STATEMENT! barn-stormed North America, campaigning the Vee hull to poker runs in the U.S. and Canada , where Peter Roberts from Double R Performance experienced his first ride.
“As a ‘catamaran guy’ I was impressed by the 42 Vee hull because it rides and handles like a cat and approaches cat-like speeds,” Roberts said. “When you compare the innovations like the air-cushioned cockpit or something as simple as a hatch ram, you can see the quality and attention to detail that STATEMENT! has to offer.”
Fendt cited the Roberts brothers’ experience selling and servicing high-performance boats and the quality of their facilities. “They are a true performance dealer,” he said, adding, “with a test tank, dyno, engine building, drive building and full paint facilities. Three Global Firsts From Double R and Nor-tech in 2009. On to 2010!

Despite tough economic times in 2008 and 2009, Double R Performance has just gotten stronger. 2008 was a record year in Nor-tech sales for Double R. 2009 set a new record!
In addition to record sales in 2009, Double R and Nor-tech had three world debuts of new models:
1) Alec Cloke of TEAM UNITED fame purchased his second Nor-tech, the very first Nor-tech 4400 Supervee Center Console from Double R Performance.
2) TEAM "CUTTIN' LOOSE" of Raliegh NC, purchased their second Nor-tech, the very first Nor-tech 4000 Roadster Supercat from Double R during the Miami Boat Show.
3) Rob Weber of Penetanguishene, On, purchased his third Nor-tech, the very first Nor-tech 427 Supervee from Double R during the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show.
2010 is off to a great start for Double R. The last two weeks of January saw 6 boat sales over 35 feet. Three of those were Nor-tech's including a new 5000 Supercat.
Wait for very exciting news in the near future regarding both the further growth of our company and the products/services we have to offer our customers.

A Nor-tech World: Nor-tech and Double R Performance Dominate in the Rough at St. Petes.

On the weekend of March 27-29, Double R Performance and Nor-tech Hi Performance Boats launched their 2009 "It's a Nor-tech World" campaign at Poker Runs America's Season Opener in St. Petersburg, Florida. In the 60 boat fleet for the run, Nor-tech was the best represented brand and Double R Performance was the dealer with the most boats in the run (8).
To say the water was rough is an understatement. There were 60 boats at the start of the run. By the time the boats got outside the bridge exiting Tampa Bay, no less than 52 of those 60 had turned around and headed back to the dock because of the rough water. This is where Nor-tech showed its rough water dominance.
There were only 4 boats that made it all the way to the lunch stop in Sarasota and back to the docks in St. Petes. Of the three participant boats that made the circuit, two of them were Nor-tech 4300 Supercats and one was a 46 Skater driven by PRA Hall of Famer Jim Lee. The Mercury powered Poker Runs America pace boat and its very wet crew fulfilled its committment and made the entire circuit as well.
Congratulations to David Luciani and John Lang from the Nor-tech 4300 Supercat "Lawrason's" (with Double R president Raymond Roberts on throttles) and Rob Weber in his Nor-tech 4300 Supercat "Cat'astrophe" for making the entire circuit.
Congratulations to Scott Ryerson for making it to the lunch stop in Sarasota in a Nor-tech 4300 Supervee. Only 8 of the 60 boats made it to the lunch stop.
Grinning from ear to ear after throttling the Lawrason's Nor-tech throughout the entire course, Double R's Raymond Roberts said "so much for the guys who say the cats can't hang with the vees in rough water!"
Visibly in photos, Alec Cloke was having a great time in the rough waters of Tampa Bay with his new Nor-tech 4400 Quad Center Console. (Thanks to Tamara from PRA and Jay Nichols for all the great photos of all the boats.) From being in the boat on this run, the author can honestly say that Alec's Nor-tech could have made the entire circuit. "I just didn't see the need to risk breaking my new boat or getting my crew wet. We had fun back at the dock!" said Mr. Cloke.
The new Nor-tech 4000 Supercat "Cuttin' Loose" also wowed crowds at the event along with each and every other Nor-tech.
Quite evidently, there was no manufacturer at the event with as impressive a showing as Nor-tech. Our on-site support trailer was there with three factory technicians in case anyone needed service. The trailer also provides a lounge area for our customers at events. Nor-tech was the only manufacturer with such support. At the other end of the course, Double R's Raymond Roberts repaired a water pump on the dock while the poker runners ate lunch in Sarasota to keep the Nor-tech team running strong.
Combining the world-class Nor-tech porduct with world-class dealer and manufacturer service is the reason it is becoming a "Nor-tech World." Follow Team Double R / Nor-tech as we continue through the 2009 poker run circuit.

Team Peacemaker Nor-tech and Double R Dominate in Finland

Tomi Juselius's Team Peacemaker Nor-tech 3600 Supercat dominated at the Fountain Poker Run Weekend in Hanko, Finland, winning both the radar shootout and the trophy for first boat in. Double R Performance and Team Peacemaker will be back next year to defend the titles.

Bob Barnhart Sets World Speed Record in Nor-tech
|
Congratulations to Bob Barnhart and Team Predator. Bob set the world record for Key West to Cancun in his new 50 Nor-tech with triple Yanmar 480's. The journey was the culmination of months of hard work by Bob and many others, raising money for Jennifur Molter, a girl who lost her family in an accident last year. Poker Runs America and Powerboat magazine will be publishing accounts of the event in the very near future. Great job, guys.
